Dealing with Vitamin D Deficiency

It's been a while since I posted anything (April to be exact) but I'm back and more determined than ever.

My healthy eating and exercise regimen had been severely derailed due to a significant Vitamin D Deficiency. I, like many people, don't get enough of this important nutrient, and I, like many people, was not prepared for how crappy such a deficiency would make me feel. I suffered from chronic fatigue - if I wasn't at work, I was sleeping. Sometimes I slept 14 hours a day. In addition to the fatigue, I had all-over body aches and I developed a skin rash that required a course of Prednisone.

In this modern age, due to more technology and less outdoor activity, I'm sure many other people have severe Vitamin D Deficiency. Check out the above chart and make an appointment with your Health Care Provider to have your levels checked. You may be as surprised as I was when you find out what they are. Your Health Care Provider, if your levels are low, can either prescribe a weekly high-dose Vitamin D supplement, or you can take what they suggest via an over-the-counter type.

After about a week of taking 7,000 IU of Vitamin D daily (49,000 IU/week) I'm beginning to feel a little better. I feel like enough of my energy has returned to where the chronic fatigue is beginning to abate. I actually feel motivated to start doing light cardio again, and thoroughly clean my house (it got a little cluttered during my chronic fatigue period :-))

Make sure you take care of your health. Get your Vitamin D level checked!
